  1. I avoid Radio 4 plays because I can’t stand listening to actors doing Acting. But I caught Robin Lustig’s voice on a A Time To Dance, bought into the concept of it immediately, and stayed with it. I read a bit about your struggle to make it more authentic – such a shame you could have not have made it more plausible. But thanks.

  2. Hello Julian…

I realise this is a long shot, but here goes…

First of all, I absolutely love Dr. Who. I am a new convert and this series has inspired me to make my way back through Eccleston and Tennant. Brilliant.

The person that got me into Dr. Who is my boyfriend, Chris. He is one of those geeks that owns all the boxsets and knows all the trivia. His brother is a big fan too… (They are pretty normal… not weird or anything) Well I realise I’m rolling out the sob story a bit here but Chris was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and now has 6 months of chemotherapy stretching ahead of him with very little to look forward to. We’ve had a bleak couple of months, but things are looking up now… though we’ve abandoned any holiday plans to focus on getting healthy again.

It’s Chris’s 28th birthday in December and I’m trying to organise the ultimate gift for him. It would basically be his dream come true to spend a day with his brother on the set of Dr. Who….. Please could you help me make this happen? He’d love to meet the cast and crew and just observe the filming process. If there was a space for him to be a supporting artist, that would be incredible but really I think he’d be thrilled just to meet you all. I’ve no idea what your shooting schedule is like. Even if you weren’t filming again until next year, just having this to look forward to would really perk him up.

I work in production also, but I don’t know anyone at BBC Cardiff and I figured I may as well just contact you and ask. I realise you must get plenty of Dr. Who nuts with similar requests… but I thought I’d give it a go.

    Many thanks,

    Becci.

    • Hi. Sorry for late response. Unfortunately I’m not working on Doctor Who at the moment and I don’t THINK they start filming the next series until February. having only directed a couple of episodes, I don’t really have any pull there so can only suggest that you contact production directly (I’d give you names, but I don’t know who’s going to be on the next series yet)

I hope Chris is recovering. If I go back to Doctor Who and it looks like I can help you out, I’ll let you know.

      Julian

  3. No fuck up there then, looking forward to the conclusion. Really good to see your name on things. Hope you are all well. Jonny

  4. Can you get back on Twitter and talk bollocks again please… we miss you! Lots of love from Rockin_Rich, LuceKD, RoyJudd and IanJudd – aka AlanVerage.

  5. Just saw an episode that you wrote called the 4th Man for BBC’s NTs.

It was extremely good, well done. Loved the two key bits of evidence (never guessed the wife was lying and liked the id bracelet that incriminated the big boss) as I never saw them coming.

  6. Hi Julian,
Excuse the time delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately we won’t get to work together this time. A Movie I was up for came through and you know the way it rolls when the choice is a feature or otherwise. I did enjoy our chat and do hope it all goes well and hope you might consider me again for future projects.
    All the best.
    Tim
