I haven’t written anything on here for quite a while. I suspect that’s because I’ve been writing so much professionally over the last couple of months that the idea of more words just doesn’t appeal.
I have, as mentioned before, taken up photography and have been posting a fair few pics at http://juliansimpson.smugmug.com/. That’s where I live for the moment and, as I start directing again in six days, for the foreseeable future. Come visit and tell me what you think.
I think I’ll leave writing to the writers for a while.
I’m starting to get the hang of making HDR (High Dynamic Range) pictures. It involves taking the same shot at different exposures and then putting the resulting images together. Here are the results so far… (better resolution versions can be found at http://juliansimpson.smugmug.com/ )
I think I’m preferring pictures to words at the moment. Anyway, Merry fucking Christmas and all that. Hope you all have a good one. I have to go and wrap some presents now…
Working, mostly – deadlines have been coming at me thick and fast recently.
And losing money. I’ve been doing a lot of that thanks to a film company hitting the skids and finding themselves unable to pay me.
I’m back in the director’s chair (on a couple of episodes of New Tricks, one of which I’ve written) as of January 12th 2010 and I’ve got a bunch of stuff to write before then.

I haven’t posted anything for a while (so sorry, busy, don’t you know?) but I thought I’d link to a couple of articles today celebrating the demise of GMTV. There’s a lot of cretinous bilge on the box these days but GMTV is the jewel in the shitty crown. Once it’s gone, perhaps we can start to chip away at the One Show, the X-Factor, I’m a Celebrity etc. People who like those shows are, as we all know, Darwin-defyingly stupid.
